dirhams, lack thereof.

Any advive/suggestions please. We have never been to Morocco before, and will be arriving at Marrakech airport about 6.30pm. I have just been told I cannot get any dirhams abroad, so is there anywhere at the airport I can change some money or use an ATM. Alternatively, is it likely that a taxidriver or restaurant would accept any foreign currency?

Hello - You can get the local money (Dirhams) once you get there. Go to the bank or simply use your ATM card (recommended) as you get the best exchange rates. all major cards are accepted and ATMs are all over, you must find plenty in the airport.
You can pay in foreign currency bu i wont advise you to do so, simply you might ended up paying more that if you just do in the local currency. let us know if you have any additional questions.

I was just there and recommend ATMs as they seemed to give me the best rate when converting from Canadian dollars. ATMs most everywhere in the country although for some reason i can't remember seeing any at the airport. I'm sure there are some there that i missed though.

There are a number of currency exchanges at the airport but i unfortunately found out that they don't open very early. On the way home i was stuck with a small wad of Dirhams that i wasn't able to convert back to Cdn dollars because my flight left too early.
