Default 8 nights in Morocco

Hi all,

I'm going to be in Morocco for 8 nights in late October and i have some questions.

There are 3 main areas/places that i plan on going to and they are,...

1/ Marrakesh
2/ Ouarzazate & area (like to go see the gorges, etc)
3/ Zagora (i want to spend at least one night out in the desert)

My tentative plan so far is the following.

I arrive in Casablanca early on a Saturday morning

I'd like to go directly to Marrakesh on that Saturday and stay for 2 nights (until Monday morning)

On Monday morning i'd like to head over the Atlas Mountains to Ouarzazate and then down to Zagora for 2 nights. Then after that, back to Ouarzazade for 2 or 3 nights.

Question,...Is it feasible to go all the way from Marrakesh to Zagora in one day or should i stop in Ouarzazate on the way to Zagora or on the way back?

All my plans are very tentative at this point so if you have any suggestions on a good route i could take, please let me know.

My only requirement is that i make it back to Casablanca on the following Sunday for a 10pm flight. I'm not too concerned about Casablanca because i'll be there for 2 days later in the month on my way back from Southern Africa.

To sum it up, i'm thinking,..

2 nights in Marrakech
2 nights in Zagora area
2 or 3 nights in Ouarzazate area
1 night somewhere else or extra night at one of the above places

I'm traveling by myself so i'm very flexible with my travel plans.

Dont forget the count the hours that you will spend traveling betwen the cities it will take time from you too
i know that warzazat and zagora are both far away
and for me to travel from fes to marrackech it was taking a full day
i know it s not the same thing btw casablanca and marrakech but it s a long distance too.. right?

Default Distance between cities in Morocco

Hi zeptepe -
It sounds like a great travel itinerary To get to Zagora from Marrakech, there are direct buses (approx 8 hours). From Ouarzazate there are buses and also collective taxis (approx 2 hours once you have started, Dh 50-70 in January 2008).
I will take the "painful 8 hours" to Zagora first then on the way back spend 3 nights in Ouarzazate, If not it's not also bad to stop both ways: one stop for one night and the other one for 2 nights at Ouarzazat.

Ok thanks. Maybe i'll take the bus from Marrakech to Ouarzazate and then a Grand Taxi from Ouarzazate down to Zagora. Sounds like i could save a few hours in travel time that way.
