We are hoping to go to Morocco for a week the end of Oct. Hopefully a bit of last minute sunshine before the long UK winter sets in.

We are planning a few days in Marrakech but would like to visit the coast. Looking on the map it seems Essaouria looks the nearest. Is this so, this being the case how easy is it to get to from Marrakech, using public transport? What would it cost? and what's of interest to see when we get there?

Also hotels V Riads pros and cons.

Essaouria was certainly a very charming place, lovely beach but it was far to rough and windy for swimming.. Good for windsurfing tho, not that I did any of that but it was good to watch those that did. Plenty of fresh fish to be had and the Medina was good and very pleasent to walk around and not much hassle to buy the goods for sale either.
