My favorite is the city of Marrakech and the area around it. I like to rent a riad and walk the miles of winding alleys of the Medina. I also enjoy the mountains around Marrakech for off roading, hiking and just general exploring.

The downside is that Marrakech is expensive compared to other parts of Morocco. The local there blame it on the French buying everything. Their opinion of course. The salesman in the market are pushy by nearly anyones standard. I actually had to rescue a pair of British young ladies that were getting fleeced in a tannery deep in the Medina.

Marrakesh got very expensive the last years of course because it's now a hot spot. We do not blame it on the French not foreigners, it's a general rule: you have money buy whatever you want. it's happening all over the world, if you go to Marbilla in Spain the most expensive spots are owned by middle eastern princes and not the local people. The good news is Morocco is very wide and you can buy a place where there's no such competition and still enjoy it.
