Default CMC, first economic think tank in Morocco

The Centre Marocain de Conjoncture (CMC) is the first independent think tank analysing the Moroccan economic situation.

Created almost 20 years ago, in 1990, the Centre Marocain de Conjoncture is an institution for macro-economic, sectoral, demographic and commercial research and studies, destined for companies and other private and public organisations.

A meeting place for the company, the administration and the university, the CMC serves decision-makers not only with its studies and advisory activities, but also the reliable information and the relevant analyses it puts at their disposal.

The Centre has developed information, survey, poll and analysis tools allowing for a professional perception of the economic and social situation, both nationally and internationally. It also strives to provide reliable data, forecasts and operational indicators enabling economic players to better prepare their decisions.

The Centre Marocain de Conjuncture publishes a number of publications, most of them in French: the monthly “Letter”, the quarterly “Profile” and the half-yearly “Bulletin”. It also publishes a regular note called “InfoCMC”, which presents the Centre's position about an economic event.

By the diversity of their content, the relevance of their analyses and the reliability of their information, these publications constitute a tool of reference for national economic players and foreign investors. They mainly target an audience of executives, senior executives and high-ranking officials, in the private and public sectors.

The centre has also recently published two website, the first in French (:: CMC : Centre Marocain de Conjoncture) and the second in English (Morocco Business News | Morocco Investment), which is the only Moroccan electronic newspaper specialised in Moroccan business news.

The Centre also provides other services, such as training and conducting studies on behalf of other private and public organisations. These studies mainly concern the economic, demographic, statistic, commercial, industrial and financial fields.

Besides these publications and services, the CMC organises seminars, study days, roundtables, in tight collaboration with researchers, professional organisations and interested economic players.

The Centre Marocain de conjuncture is made up of a team of nationally and internationally recognised experts with complementary profiles. The Centre also resorts to some statisticians, analysts, in order to meet certain specific needs of the centre or its clients.

Presided over by Habib El Malki, a former minister and university professor, the CMC's team is motivated by its constant will to bridge the gap between the company, the professional organisations, the administration and the university.

“The CMC, the first economic think tank in Morocco, has several objectives, most importantly to observe the economic situation, in order to better understand, and to anticipate, in order to bring about the appropriate conditions to help with decision making,” El Malki said in an interview with Morocco Business News.
