After Italy, Germany and Spain, the Caravan for encouraging investment in Morocco has reached Paris, taking part in the Moroccan real estate exhibition “Smap Immo”, which has been held in the French capital.
A communiqué of the Club of Moroccan Investors Living Abroad (CIME), which is organising the Caravan, said that this event aims at the examination of investment opportunities in Morocco's different sectors of activity.
The communiqué, which was published on Wednesday, added that the event saw the participation of Moroccan and French businessmen, as well as people from other nationalities and representatives of banks and Moroccan associations.
“The Club has been striving for over 20 years to encourage Moroccans living abroad (MRE) to come and invest in their country of origin,” said Bouchaib Rami, the club's president.
He added that Moroccan community living abroad, which has witnessed in half a decade profound changes and achievements, constitutes a source of competences that is able to contribute to the development of its country of origin.
Besides the tourist and real estate sectors, agriculture was given a special focus through an ample discussion on the advantages of the sector and the incentives provided to the MRE who are interested in investing in the sector.
Agriculture's “Green Morocco Plan”, which is a strategy for the promotion of the country's agricultural sector, was presented on this occasion.
Another tourist project, “the Gardens of Moroccans in the world”, which consists of vacation villages destined for the MRE, was also presented. The first village will see the light of day in the Mediterranean Saidia.
Earlier this week, the minister in charge of the Moroccan community living abroad, Mohammed Ameur, indicated that the money transfer service will be provided by the Moroccan banks for free until the end of 2009.
This measure is part of a plan that has been drawn up by the government to encourage the MRE to invest in the kingdom. The new plan mainly aims at encouraging these Moroccans to invest, helping them to buy houses and reducing the cost of money transfers.
