 Morocco allocates $15mln to restore kasbahs, Ksours
Rabat - Morocco has allocated 123 million dirhams (15 million U.S. dollars) to restore the kasbahs (castle-like buildings) and Ksours (villages built with cut stone and adobe) across the country, Minister of Housing, Toufiq Hejira said.
The restoration works of 17 Kasbahs are completed or nearing completion, especially in the southern regions of Errachidia, Erfoud and Rissani, while the restoration works of 14 other Ksours and Kasbahs are underway, said the minister at the weekly question time of the House of Advisors.
On the measures to cope with the impact of the recent rainfalls, Hejira said that a committee has been established to coordinate between the different departments concerned.
He also noted that some 135 families have benefited from land lots to build their homes, as well as the necessary financial and technical assistance.
