Default The charm of Camels.

Thought I would share these random thoughts I have on camels after my recent camel trekking experience..

After meeting my camel for the first time I affectionatley referred to him as Larry..sort of after "Lawrence of Arabia" I thought he had a noble demeanor and a quiet and serene smile, which it seems they all have...LOL We set off at sunset on the hour and a half trek to our desert camp. I thought how great this was then after about an hour thought...where's that flippin camp. I was just about to start begging to be let off and walk the rest of the way when the camp loomed out of the palm trees....YAAAAAYYYY...

It was'nt long after I discovered Larry, generous to a fault had shared his fleas with me and my feet were patterned with bites. Dispite the insect repellent..obviously Larry's fleas were hardier than that and they probably laugh in the face of such insect repellent on a daily basis. After a lovely night spent in the camp then came the dawn ride back across the sands....Now I think I know that serene smile of the camel may have a hidden meaning of "yes, sure I will take you across the desert, but you will suffer for it" LOL By the time we arrived back it was near to agony, but at least I still managed to get off the camel unaided and managed to walk the short distance to the hotel towards a hot shower.

At the start of our trip a collection of local people had come to see us off. No doubt the idea of the pale English people climbing onto camels holds some sort off amusement...I think had they been there on our return it would have been far more amusing to watch us pale tired and very saddle sore trying to get off again.
