Rabat - King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of Staff of the Moroccan Royal Armed Forces (FAR), voiced on Thursday "deep satisfaction" with the work of the different branches of the army both nationally and internationally, and pledged to improve the social situation of the soldiers.
In the Order of the Day, addressed Thursday on the occasion of the 53rd anniversary of the creation of the FAR, the king expressed his "deep satisfaction and entire affection for the devotion which you have shown in fulfilling your lofty missions."
The action of the different branches of the army both in Morocco and in the UN-led peacekeeping missions around the world, their participation in rescuing the victims of natural disasters, in Morocco and abroad, and their input in providing humanitarian help and assistance to the Palestinian people, especially through setting up a permanent airlift to ship humanitarian help to Gazans, have won the applaud of the Supreme Commander.
Continuing to fulfil such missions requires a good command of the knowledge of the ever-changing techniques and tactics in order to keep up with the military sciences, the king said, adding that the joint action of the different army branches remains a “key foundation” to improve the field experience of the FAR.
Such an effort requires a good mastery of all the means of modern military knowledge in relation with the art of commanding, operation management, telecommunications, simulation, support and expansion of the scope of the management of the defence to include present and future security-related challenges, he said.
The monarch insisted that international cooperation and exchange programmes are instrumental in enhancing the civilisational status of the country, and establishing communication channels to serve Morocco’s supreme interests.
On the social situation of the army members, the monarch said he has followed the implementation of the directives aimed at raising the salaries of the soldiers and the pensions of the retired. He also highlighted the work being done to carry out the programmes aimed at reinforcing the basic equipment of barracks, in order to move some of them outside cities, and turn them into integrated spaces fitted with social, sporting and entertainment services.
