Morocco, U.S. hold joint military exercise Morocco and the United States are now holding a routine joint military exercise in the southern Moroccan region of Tifnit, local media reported Thursday.
The exercise, aimed at inspecting the coordination capacity of the United States Marine Corps and the Moroccan military force and familiarizing each other of their respective military skills, were participated by 1,300 soldiers, that is, 650 from each side.
The drill includes the trainings on the operation of arms and military equipment, probing of antipersonnel bomb, rescue and spot surveillance exercise and joint anti-terror peacekeeping operations.
The two air forces will also conduct drills on aerial refueling of fighter jets.
The maneuver, started on March 28, is to go on till June 4 in the Tifnit region, 30 km south to the city of Agadir.
Morocco and the United States have close military collaboration, especially after Sept.11, 2001, when the United States strengthened anti-terror cooperation with North African countries. The two countries now hold joint military exercises yearly in Morocco. Source:Xinhua |
