Economy Morocco's 2008 growth rate at 5.4% Morocco's 2008 economic growth rate reached about 5.4%, against 2.7% in 2007, said on Monday the High Commission for Planning.
“The national accounts of the four quarters of the year 2008 show that the economy achieved an annual growth rate of about 5.4%,” underlined the HCP in a release published on Monday.
The HCP attributes this performance to the rise in the agricultural added value (+11% against -21%).
The GDP outside agriculture, however, did not exceed 4.7% in 2008 compared to 6.6% in 2007, said the same source, adding that the overall GDP posted a rise of 7.8% in 2008, relative to the previous year.
These figures, which are based on quarterly accounts, may undergo some changes after the establishment of the yearly accounts in June. By CMC |
