I will be travelling to Morocco during Eid and was curious how long shops/businesses etc close for the holiday. I am spending the holiday with my husbands family however we also intend to do some travelling as its my first visit to the country. Any feedback would be appreciated

Lucky you! Eid-Al-Adha is so much fun. I believe businesses and shops are closed the day of Eid and the day after. it's called Tani (second) Eid
Where's your husband family located? So I can help you better with your itinerary.
Here's few places that i will advice you to not miss: Marrakech, Essaouira and again it depends where you guys going to be... i will suggest places to visit.

Hi, in fact not all shops close during the day of Eid, most of them however close in the morning because many people go to perform Eid prayer and also sacrifice a sheep. some other shops of course close for more than 3 days. most Moroccan cities are worth visiting, then it is up to you to choose which one to visit. if you like coastal cities there are many beautiful ones like Essaouira, Rabat, Agadir.. etc but if you would like to see mountainous ones, then you can go to Ouarzazate. Marakech is also a very good touristy destination.

Default Thank you!

Thanks for the responses. I will be staying primarily in Casablanca then travelling from there. Of course I want to go everywhere but we are spending on two weeks so will be limited. Hoping to visit Essaouira, Marrakech, Ouarzazate, Tetoune and then wherever else we have time for!!!
I am thrilled to finally be visiting this country - it looks stunning........

Casablanca is nice and crowded once you see the city and your husband family it's nice to get away south: Marrakesh, Essaouira, Agadir, Ouarzazate...
It might be hard to visit Tetouan, it's located up North, the total opposite direction but if you manage your trip wisely, you could see more nice places.
I wish you a happy and safe trip and I hope you'll enjoy every minute in Morocco
