Morocco's oil bill between January and February stood at MAD 2.66 billion, registering a fall of 54.9% compared to the same period last year.
According to the Moroccan Foreign Exchange Office, the country imported 1 million tonnes in this period, against 1.15 million a year ago.
This fall is due to the decline of prices in the international markets. The average price of an imported tonne of crude oil went down 49.2%, to reach MAD 2,611 at the end of February, relative to 5,144 in the same period last year.
Following this development, overall energy imports dropped 27.8%, from MAD 10.9 billion to some 7.8 billion, added the same source.
