Wearing a hijab should be a decision a women makes freely because it in some way helps her to connect to her spiritual side through Islam. Sadly, I think this is not the case for many of the worlds women.

What I object to, is when pressure is put on women by society and family and law to dress and behave in a way which causes them to have less access to wealth, power and autonomy than men have.

Yes, I agree with you there mustn't be any pressure on women to wear a hijab, but wearing it sould be a decision made my the woman herself in contrast to to what some countries do by forcing women to dress in a particular manner.

And here is the opposite of the problem.

''ATLANTA – A Muslim woman arrested for refusing to take off her head scarf at a courthouse security checkpoint said Wednesday that she felt her human and civil rights were violated.''

they could have been respectful enough to have a woman escort her into private to do it. If you check the law it was the judge in violation of the laws.

This what I am actually against. I think this woman is right when she felt her civil rights were violated. the same story happened in France when they prevented girls wearing a headscraf to go in the school. A woman should not neither be forced to wear a hijab nor taking it off. She should be free to do whatever she likes.

I thought the situation in France was that the women are teachers and wanted to wear face veils at the school? Apparently it is a secuity issue if people cover their faces.

Face veils are tolderated here in Germany(just about), but only in unofficial situations. For example, a women can wear a headscarf on her passport photo, but cant cover her face. Same with working. I think a head covering is allowed as long as it does not cover the face and prevent the person being identifiable.
