Do you Google enough? The Google web search engine is the most used search engine on the web with a 53.6% market share, ahead of Yahoo and Live Search and receives several hundred million queries each day through its various services. Google indexes billions of web pages, so that you can search for the information you desire, through the use of key words and operators.
In addition to this Google Search has more than 22 "special features" which provide other informative results, including calculations, weather forecasts, stock quotes, currency conversions, package tracking, maps and flight statuses. Some of which are listed below:
Google Calculator
Is a hidden feature of Google search. Google’s calculator tries to understand the problem you are attempting to solve without requiring you to use special syntax. You can type math expressions, unit conversions and many other questions that have a unique answer into the search box and the answer will be displayed.
Fill in the Blanks
Sometimes the best way to ask a question is to get Google to ‘fill in the blank’ by adding an asterisk (*) at the part of the sentence or question that you want finished into the Google search box. So instead of writing ‘who invented the parachute’ you put ‘the parachute was invented by *’.
Google Translate
Google's free online language translation service instantly translates text and web pages. This translator supports many different languages including English and Arabic.
Google Maps
Provides maps and routes for traveling by foot, bicycle, car, or public transport and can display it as map, terrain or satellite. For the UAE it displays major cities and highways.
Google Book Search
Search and preview millions of books from libraries and publishers worldwide using Google Book Search. Discover a new favorite or unearth an old classic. If the book is out of copyright, or the publisher has given them permission, you'll be able to see a preview of the book, and in some cases the entire text. |
